Tuesday's area roundup: Hamilton-Wenham makes it 108 straight


Swampscott 3, Hamilton-Wenham 1: The Big Blue came out on top 24-26, 25-18, 30-28, 25-20. Julia Fibbe hit well for the Generals with seven kills.

Salem 3, Lynn English 0: The Witches took care of Lynn English, 25-21, 25-17, 25-17, to improve to 14-6. Outside hitters Codey Homan (12 kills) and Hannah Mullarkey (9 kills, 9 aces) stood out while setter Stephannie Martinez contributed 22 assists.

Shawsheen 3, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 2: The Bulldogs started fast with 25-23 and 25-21 wins, but couldn’t pick up another win in the final three games. Isabel Camacho had 15 kills, five blocks and two aces to lead North Shore (7-11), which can win its Commonwealth Conference division and qualify for the tournament with a victory over Mystic Valley tomorrow.


Bishop Fenwick 2, Lynnfield 2: Kathleen Moran (assist) and Erin Clancy scored the Bishop Fenwick (10-6-1) goals while senior midfilder Caroline Crawford, junior midfielder Jackie Hart and senior forward Erinn Johnson also had solid performances.

Manchester Essex 6, Georgetown 0: The CAL Small-leading Hornets improved to 14-0-2.


MIT 3, Salem State 1: Amy Griffith converted a header off a Veronica Poirier corner kick in the second half but the Vikings dropped to 5-6-2.


Bridgewater State 1, Salem State 0: The Bears netted the game’s only goal in the 67th minute as the Vikings fell to 6-8 on the season. Carolyn Woodin made two saves for Salem State in a contest that featured just four total shots on goal.
