Beverly City Council to honor championship hockey team

BEVERLY — The Beverly City Council will honor the Division 2 state championship boys hockey team from Beverly High School tonight.

The City Council will proclaim a resolution for the Panthers’ incredible season, which resulted in a school record for wins (22), a second straight Northeastern Conference North title, a school record four playoff victories and the program’s first-ever state crown by virtue of its 2-1 victory over Medfield at the TD Garden in Boston two weekends ago.

The event will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Chamber on the third floor. The public is invited to attend this special evening to honor the state champion BHS icemen, head coach Bobby Gilligan and his assistant coaches.
