Cambridge 11, North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 5: Jennifer Loutes had three goals, while Anna Harriman and Kaliegh Stirrat each had one for the Hawks (0-2). Morgan Cobouzi made 11 saves in goal.

 

BOYS TENNIS

Peabody 5, Lynn English 0: The Tanners (2-0) didn’t drop a set with singles victories by Igor Chiste (6-3, 6-2), Scott Perlman (6-2, 6-3) and Djordje Samardzic (6-0, 6-0). The doubles teams of Alex McDonough/Mike Nicoli (6-0, 6-0) and Steve Goggin/Sam Gottsegan (6-1, 6-1) also won.

Danvers 4, Winthrop 1: Top singles player Nick Lisichenok won in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) to spark a Falcon singles sweep with wins by Jim Cunningham (6-0, 6-2) and Emmitt Pierro (0-6, 6-3, 6-2). First doubles team Matt Kidney and Chris Shalkoski also won for Danvers (1-1, 1-0 NEC).

Beverly 5, Salem 0: First singles Peter Coletti (6-2, 6-0), second singles Masaya Okumura (6-3, 6-0) and third singles Christian Ayer (6-0, 6-0) all won for Beverly (2-0) along with first doubles team Connor Irving/Leonard Schulz (6-0, 6-0) and second doubles team Conor Gill/Eno Jahaj (6-0, 6-0).

Swampscott 3, Gloucester 2: No. 1 singles Mazar Bahayev rallied to win 3-6, 6-0, 6-4 to spark the Big Blue (1-0). Ian Crimmins won 7-6, 6-2 and the the top doubles team of Erick Eaton and Mike Pindrus came out on top 6-3, 6-4.

St. John’s Prep 5, Malden Catholic 0: Ian Cunningham (6-0, 6-1), Alec McNiff (6-0, 6-0) and Chase Davis (6-0, 6-0) won handily at singles for the Eagles (3-0). It was more of the same in doubles as Sean Nork/Mateo Jacome (6-0, 6-0) and Andrew Cadigan/Scott Reister (6-0, 6-2) completed the sweep.

Lynnfield 4, Hamilton-Wenham 1: Scotty Hughes and Trevor Jones (6-1, 7-6 (7-5)) won at second doubles for the Generals in their season opening loss.

Ipswich 4, Newburyport 1: A doubles sweep by Sam Benford/Forrest Finn (6-3, 6-1) and Max Benford/Ryan Fremont-Smith (6-2, 6-2) helped Ipswich (1-2) grab their first victory. Anton Dedon (7-5, 6-0) and Brian Davis (6-2, 6-1) took singles points.

Pentucket 3, Masconomet 2: No. 3 singles players Nick Marshall won 6-0, 7-5 and the Chieftains’ second doubles tandem of Max Gordon and Davis McVay also won, 6-1, 7-5.

 

GIRLS TENNIS

Beverly 4, Salem 1: Doubles wins by Veronica Lund/Maryanne Flanagan (6-2, 3-6, 7-5) and Carly Blau/Danielle Tetrault (6-2, 6-0) helped the Panthers (2-0) to victory. Maddie Tremblay (6-4, 7-5) and Caroline Jospeh (6-1, 6-0) won at singles.
