Beverly 122, Salem 14: Senior captain Kristen O’Connor prevailed in four separate events: the low hurdles (67.1), high jump (4-10), triple jump (34-7) and 100 meter high hurdles (16.1) as Beverly won its second straight meet to begin the spring season. Other highlights for the Panthers included senior MaryCate Flaherty winning the 400 (61.2) and javelin (91-4), while junior Haylea Northcott won both the 100 (13.2) and 200 (28.0).
Masconomet 93, Triton 52: Sophomore Lizzie Dew won both the discus and shot put to power the Chieftains (3-1) to victory. Dana Balek was victorious in the javelin for Masconomet, which swept the 4x400 and 4x100 relays, 400 meter hurdles and the pole vault.
North Reading 93, Ipswich 52: Emily DeMarco (2 mile, 800) and Michaela Hedderman (100, 200) recorded double wins for the Tigers (0-2-1). Marissa Cane won the javelin and Nora McMoro was second in the high jump, pole vault and 200.
Salem 82, Beverly 46: The Witches saw senior captain Jon Crimble win the 100 (11.5), long jump (20-11) and triple jump to prevail over their archrivals in their season opener. Fellow captain Aaron Palmer was a double winner in the 200 (23.3) and the discus (115-2), while Jerry Canada captured the 110 hurdles (15.1), John Swasey won the 400 (54.5) and Riley Grondon took top honors in the shot put (39-10). Salem also took first place in both relays.
Masconomet 109, Triton 35: Senior captain Tristan Cluster was a triple winner for Masconomet, capturing the 400 hurdles (61.6), triple jump (39-6 3/4) and the 400 (54.1). Junior Regan Charie added a pair of wins in the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.9) for Masconomet (4-0). Harry Kent (2-mile), Steve O’Reilly (discus), David Drigo (javelin), Dan Cosgrove (mile), Kevin Martin (high jump) and Matt Leon (long jump) also scored wins, as did the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
Ipswich 88, North Reading 57: Alex Jean-Charles was a double winner in the long jump and 100 for the Tigers (3-0). Ryan White (high jump), Tim Lee (shot put), Matt Jaeger (triple jump), Josh Brown (javelin), David Dick (pole vault), Michael Riddle (2 mile), Brian Bahar (hurdles) and Nate Glaster (200) also picked up wins for Ipswich.
