Thursday's area roundup: O'Connor wins four events as Beverly girls track

SOFTBALL

Peabody 9, Lynn English 2: Shelbi Wilson fired a 2-hitter with one earned run and two walks to go along with a dozen strikeouts as the Tanners evened their record at 1-1. Peabody scored four times in both the third and sixth innings as Kayla Santos was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Nicole Grafton added an RBI single. Ashley Jenkins also knocked in a run with a basehit, and Ashley Ghostlaw had a hit and scored twice.

North Shore Tech 16, Minuteman 0: Kaylyn Countie pitched all five innings, allowed two walks, struck out five and didn’t allow a single hit in the game. Out of 18 first pitches, 13 of them were strikes and Countie threw 49 total strikes.Rhianon Lane went 3-for-4 with a RBI, including single, double and triple. Courtney Remson and Katlynn Guerin each finished with 2-for-3 and 2 RBI, Dianna Leblanc went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

Cardinal Spellman 3, Bishop Fenwick 0: The Crusaders (0-2) ran into a hot pitcher who struck out 16. Natalie Moore gave up five hits for Fenwick. The game was scoreless in the bottom of sixth, before Spellman put together some hits. Gianna Pizzano and Charlotte Powers both went 1-for-3 and played well defensively.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Danvers 18, Swampscott 3: Rachel Trocci and Allie Zunick each recorded six goals as the Falcons improve to 4-0 on the season. Meghan McKenna and Abby Armstrong contributed with two goals a piece, while Kara Connors made four saves in goal.

Ipswich 15, Arlington Catholic 11: Senior Olivia Moutevelis led the offense with seven goals and one assist as the Tigers move to 2-1.

BOYS LACROSSE

Salem 15, Winthrop 5: Matt Jalbert scored five times and dished out two assists as the Witches (3-2) rolled at home. Peter Slattery added three goals and four assists while Eamon Williamson, Andrew Macmillan and Craig Denehy all had two goals and two assists. Matt Muse had the other goal, while Christian Costa and Paul Sanpillan each played one half in goal.
