Thursday's area roundup: O'Connor wins four events as Beverly girls track


Masconomet 7, North Andover 5: Junior goalie Johnathan Schiff made 17 saves and Masco (3-2) endured a man-down situation for the final minute to defeat the Scarlet Knights. Cam Jung (three goals) and Max Craig (two goals) led the offense with Harrison Moody and Harry Cwik adding a goal each. Defensively, Cory Tines, Aidan Sears, Mike Jesi and Mike Veno were instrumental in the victory.


Triton 4, Hamilton-Wenham 1: Frankie Bucco and Jack Hopkins picked up a win at first doubles (6-2,6-4), but the Generals fall to 0-2 on the season.

St. John’s Prep 3, Newton North 2: First singles player Dan Cunningham (6-1, 6-4) and second singles player Alec McNiff (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) recorded wins for the Eagles (4-0). Chase Davis/Sean Nork (6-1, 2-6, 6-1) got the win in doubles action.

Beverly 5, Lynn English 0: The Panthers had a clean sweep against the Bulldogs yesterday to improve to 3-0. Peter Coletti (6-0, 6-0), Leonard Schulz (6-0, 6-0), Christian Ayer (6-1, 6-2), Conor Gill/Eno Jahaj (6-0, 6-0) and Connor Irving/Owen Bolas (6-0, 6-2) got the wins for Beverly.

Marblehead 5, Swampscott 0: Co-captain Chris Wigglesworth won 6-1, 6-0, followed by fellow captain Miles Barry’s 6-3, 6-2 win and doubles victories by Dimitri Vlassov/Michael Forte (6-0, 6-2) and Griffin Butterfield/Justin Faia (6-0, 6-0).


Beverly 4, Lynn English 1: Sophie Claus (6-3, 6-4) and Maddie Trembley (6-1, 6-2) picked up wins in singles action for the Panthers (3-0). Veronica Mun/Caroline Joseph (6-0, 6-3) and Carly Blau/Marion Flanagan (6-2, 6-2) also earned ins.


MIT 9, Salem State 0: The Vikings dipped to 0-6 on the spring season.
