Marathon Snapshot: Kellie Marshall

Name: Kellie Marshall

Age: 22

Hometown: Danvers

Number of marathons: First time in Boston and first marathon overall

Who are you running for?: I am running for the 4/15 Strong group for the One Fund as a survivor group. I was about 6 feet away from the second bomb and experienced some minor injuries. I got a memorial number through the One Fund being a member of that community.

Why is it important for you to run this year?: I’m running to have a positive way to remember Marathon Monday rather than the horrific day I experienced last year. That will stay with me forever, but I’ll be happy to say I completed my first marathon, as well.

A perfect race day for you would be: High 30s or low 40s, with the sun shining and the Red Sox winning, and everyone I love being there to support me at the finish line. Hopefully, my family will have a place to watch, but all that really matters for that day is that I get to celebrate with friends and family who have helped me get through a difficult year.
