The Salem News

---- — Name: Meaghan English

Age: 26

Hometown: Peabody

Number of marathons: Two

Times run Boston: Twice

Who are you running for?: “I run for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in memory of my best friend’s dad, who passed away in July, and in support of all those who have courageously fought and continue to fight cancer. I think we’re all running for the city of Boston this year, as well: for the survivors, first responders and especially for those we lost — they’re all in my heart.”

Why is it important for you to run Boston?: “When everything unfolded last year, I just felt like I needed to be there — it seemed like a natural progression. It’s such an incredible thing to see what we can do when the community comes together.”

A perfect race day for you would be: “I’m going to say 48 and cloudy, with maybe a little bit of sunshine and lots of cheering fans. That’s the type of weather I’ve been training in for the past few months.”
