Wednesday's area roundup: Beverly girls lacrosse team topples Marblehead


Bishop Fenwick 15, Marian 6: Chris Napolitano had six goals and one assist while Kyle Russell scored five and dished out three helpers as Fenwick evened its record at 4-4. Mark Nalesnik added three goals and three assists, Jake Mitchell also scored and goaltender Nick Finan made a dozen saves.


Masconomet 3, Pentucket 2: Emily Dow got the win for Masco (3-1) striking out five while giving up no earned runs in seven innings. Sophomore Cayla Murray hit a triple in the bottom of the seventh and scored on a passed ball while her sister, Jordyn Murray, had a two-out RBI double to tie the game in the previous inning.

Bishop Fenwick 10, Austin Prep 3: Natalie Moore was the winning pitcher for Bishop Fenwick (2-2) allowing just four hits. Junior catcher Gaby Hart was 3 for 3 with three runs and four RBI while senior second basemen Jen Crovo was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a RBI.

Pingree 5, Newton Country Day 0: Christina Chalmers picked up her third straight win, allowing two hits and striking out four to lead the Highlanders (3-1). Chalmers also had two hits and an RBI. Gabby Muniz and Haley Sabino played well defensively for Pingree.



Marblehead 5, Winthrop 0: The Magicians cruised past Winthrop to improve to 2-1. Kelly Mealey (6-1, 6-2), Julia Channing (6-0, 6-0) and Lily Frontero (6-0, 6-0) each won at singles while the doubles teams of Amanda Gilberg/Meagan Hanratty (6-0, 6-0) and Alice Yufa/Hannah Cohen (6-1, 6-0) also won.

Peabody 4, Salem 1: Rachael Gillis (6-2, 5-7, 6-1), Dany Chhan (6-1, 6-0) and Eleni Petronelis 6-1, 6-4) won first, second and third singles respectively as Peabody bumped its record to 4-0. Anna Grimalyak and Alisa Pereira (6-3, 6-1) topped first doubles.

Beverly 5, Revere 0: Sophie Claus (6-0, 6-1), Maddie Trembley (6-1, 6-0) and Carly Blau (6-0, 6-0) cruised through singles play for Beverly (4-1) which is now 4-0 in the NEC. Ruby Murphy/Teyah Fasheh (6-2, 6-0) and Allison Lewandowski/Kira Kennedy (6-0, 6-4) topped the doubles matches for the Panthers.

Lynnfield 4, Masconomet 1: Rebecca Costa (6-2, 6-4) won the third singles match but Masco (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season.
