Area roundup: Kelleher, Cahill score first goals as Danvers tops Salem

BOYS SOCCER

Danvers 5, Salem 1: Ryan Kelleher and defender Kyle Cahill both scored their first career goals as the Falcons (7-0) breezed to victory. Captain Eric Martin scored a pair of goals, Zach Noring added a single tally, and defenders Nick Lebel and Matt Kidney were standouts defensively.

Alesio Kanani scored Salem’s only goal, the first marker of the game. Keeper Steve Harris played well in goal for the Witches (5-2-1).

Marblehead 1, Lynn English 0: Senior Josh Beloff scored 15 minutes into the second half on an unassisted goal for the Magicians (4-5). Sophomore keeper Max Walther had 13 saves for his first career shutout.

Masconomet 3, Ipswich 0: Michael Ennis scored a pair of goals and had an assist to power the Chieftains (8-0-2). Edison Forbes scored the other marker while Derek Grammer had two saves for the shutout.

Lynnfield 1, Hamilton-Wenham 0: The Generals dropped to 3-5-1 despite solid play from senior sweeper Nick Fusco.

Bishop Fenwick 2, Marian 0: Rishad Desilva and Iftimi Arapi handled the scoring for the Crusaders (3-6-2). Greg Enos and James Brophy each contributed with an assist.

Pingree 1, Berwick 1: Nate Corning scored on penalty kick in the second half to tie the game. Goalie Hayden Stewarz looked strong, coming up with big saves for the Highlanders (1-3-2).

St. Mary’s Lynn 6, Swampscott 1: The Spartans (7-2-3) rolled as Christian Chavez of Peabody and Noah Camelo of Salem each scored two goals. Senior captain Alexander Alleyne had a goal and an assist playing against his hometown team for the winners as well. Freshman Daniel Hennessey also had a goal and an assist.

Acton-Boxboro 6, Peabody 0: Junior keeper Sean Walsh made 27 saves for the Tanners (5-1-2).

GIRLS SOCCER

Danvers 3, Salem 1: Junior Delaney Zecha and sophomore Shannon Pohle both scored in the game’s first three minutes as Danvers (7-1-2) stayed unbeaten in league play. Senior captain Chrissy Gikas added a goal and an assist for the Falcons while Jackie Morse and Katherine Kowalski also had assists. In addition, junior Nicole Belanger had a fine game defensively.
