2013 Salem News Boys Indoor Track All-Stars



Peabody Senior


Broke 37 year old school record in 45 yard dash (4.9) … Captain won D-1 state 55 (6.56) … 5th at All-States (6.65) … Holds school record in 60 meter (7.1) … 34th at New Balance Nationals 60 meter with personal best … Anchor leg of 4x200 relay that went to Nationals (35th) … NEC all-star won team’s George Smyrnios and Career Achievement awards … Plans to run in college … Credits coach Fernando Braz with teaching him to put his best foot forward, take positives from everything, and to always work hard.


Bishop Fenwick Senior


Captain from Beverly set school record in 25-pound weight throw at Brown University Weight-A-Rama with personal best 60-7 ¼ … Set school records in 35 lb. (44-2), 56 lb. (28-3) and triathlon (130-8) … CCL champ and league all-star in shot put (47-4) … 6th at D-4 states … 2nd at State Scholastic Championship in 25 lb. weight … 6th in NE for 35 lb., 11th in NE and 43rd in country for 25 lb. … 5th in weight throw triathlon … 23rd in 25 lb. at New Balance Nationals … Has 4.357 weight GPA and in top 15% of class.

300/Long Jump/High Jump

Led Witches in scoring … Multi-talented athlete high jumped 6-2 … Won NEC 300 (36.66) … Best long jump of 21-6 for 1st place at Coaches Invitational with new meet record … Anchored NEC winning 4x200 relay team (1:34) … 3rd at D-3 states and 4th at All-State in long jump … 19th at New England’s and 24th in Emerging Elite at Nationals … 13th at state pentathlon … Plans to run in college … Credits coach Gary Lavoie with pushing him to be the best he can be.


St. John’s Prep Junior


Set school shot put record with 55-6 ½ throw … Named Outstanding Performer in league … 3rd at D-1 state meet (52-8) … 5th at All-State (53-8) … Went to New Balance Nationals … First time in Prep history two shot putters over 54 feet (David Roy the other) … Has 3.86 GPA … Gloucester resident plans to attend four year college and throw … Credits Nate Hunter for working with him in off-season to improve shot put technique which he really appreciates.
