Peabody's Scacchi named MVP for Northeastern Conference volleyball

Peabody High junior standout Carolyn Scacchi, who led her team to a Northeastern Conference championship in the Tanners’ first season in the conference, was named the NEC’s Most Valuable Player.

A middle hitter, Scacchi became the first player in Peabody High volleyball history to pass 200 career kills this season, finishing with 205. She also guided the Tanners to a No. 2 seeding in the Division 1 North state tournament.

Joining her on the Northeastern Conference’s All-Conference team was senior setter Karlie Marrs of Beverly, junior libero Hannah Mullarkey of Salem, sophomore outside hitter Gina Asipenko of Swampscott, senior outside hitter Valentina Lopez of Revere and senior middle hitter Bobbie Dee Reagan of Lynn Classical.

In addition, the following players were named NEC all-stars:

Senior middle hitter Katie Ball of Beverly; senior middle hitter Kylie Thesz of Salem, outside hitters Kim Sousa (a senior) and Olivia Summit (a junior) from Peabody; senior libero Josie Gray of Swampscott; senior defensive specialist Phaedra Mehu of Lynn Classical; senior setter Hailey Lauria of Revere; senior outside hitter Viktoryia Belina and junior middle hitter Keri Bryson, both of Lynn English; and senior setter Gina Vozzella and junior middle hitter Norma Waggett, both from Saugus.

Beverly’s Pam Padovani was named the NEC’s Co-Coach of the Year along with Frank DeLuca of Lynn Classical. Padovani’s Panthers were also awarded the conference’s Sportsmanship Award.
