VOLLEYBALL
The Bishop Fenwick girls volleyball team secured its spot in the Divison 2 North finals after last night's semifinal victory over Stoneham. The Crusaders swept the match on the road, 25-20, 25-22, 25-20.
Fenwick, the No. 8 seed in the draw, was led by senior captain Ana Witkowski, who had 12 kills and eight digs, and sophomore middle hitter Kate Lipka with 10 blocks.
The Crusaders (16-7) will play third-seeded Melrose (21-1) at Lawerence High Saturday at 3 p.m. in the North final.
"We've already played Melrose this season," said Fenwick head coach Adam DeBaggis. "We need to have a sharp practice and stay sharp for Saturday."
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Endicott 3, Emmanuel 2: The Gulls prevailed in an ECAC quarterfinal (25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13) at home as senior Elyse Barbour had 14 kills and seven blocks while Sarah Allshouse had 46 set assists and 23 digs. Callie Dolan had a team-high 15 kills while freshman Hannah Dahlgren had five solo blocks. Defensively, Gillian Kucharski and Emily Gillich had 17 and 11 digs, respectively.
WOMEN'S FIELD HOCKEY
kEENE STATE 2, ENDICOTT 0: The Gulls (12-9) fell behind early as Keene State opened up the scoring in the first half during yesterday's NCAA Division 3 Tournament first round action. Netminder Taylor Teixeira stopped 10 shots in the loss.
MEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER
Albertus Magnus 3, Endicott 2: Peabody native Jared Rizzo's second-half goal pulled the Gulls within striking distance, but Endicott eventually fell in the ECAC Tournament first round.
Brett Longobucco gave Endicott (8-9-3) a 1-0 lead in the first half before the host Falcons notched three unanswered tallies.
WOMEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER
UMass Boston 3, Endicott 1: Hannah Schneidenbach's goal via a Clare Mansfield corner kick gave Endicott some hope in the second half, but UMass Boston's Krista Ledin had a hat trick to lift the Corsairss in an ECAC Tournament first round contest. The Gulls wrapped up their season 12-9.
