Area roundup: Fenwick finds scoring touch in rout


Hamilton-Wenham 55, Lynnfield 48: Henry Eagar (18 points) and James Foye (17 points) led the Generals (6-5) in scoring while junior Nikos Lara (10 points) grabbed five big defensive boards and Nick Loeper had three key steals.

Gloucester 58, Beverly 52: Jon Berchoff led all scorers with 15 points while Cam Rogers had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds but Beverly dropped to 8-3.

Danvers 76, Peabody 42: Danvers improved to 10-0 for the first time in school history and qualified for the state tournament behind a big night from sophomore Vinny Clifford (five assists), who drained five shots from downtown for 15 points. Eric Martin added nine points, seven assists and three steals, Nick Bates chipped in eight rebounds and nine points and Kieran Beck grabbed seven rebounds to go with his 10 points. Jared McCarron poured in 20 points for Peabody (3-8) while Ben Onessimo scored nine points and was strong defensively.


No. shore tech/aggie 38, Fellowshic Christian 20: North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie (1-10) scored its first win of the season behind a balanced offensive effort and some strong defense. Ashley Mertsch and Julie DeGenova scored eight points each while Kourtney Kellard added six points.

Hamilton-Wenham 40, Lynnfield 33: Haley Willis scored a team high 11 points to go with seven rebounds and for blocks as H-W (7-3) earned a tough road win. Cassandra Fibbe had six points, six assists and seven rebounds, Sue Rose contributed eight points and five assists and Sam Charette had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Winthrop 44, Salem 40: The Witches (3-7) hung in there but only made five of 13 free throws as the Vikings came out on top. Freshman Brianna Rodriguez led Salem with 11 points and played well at both ends of the floor and Arianna Gaffney scored seven points.

Archbishop Williams 74, Bishop Fenwick 45: Bishop Fenwick dropped to 8-5 on the season despite a 17-point effort from Chandler Wilder (two steals). Sydney Brennan added 12 points while Kate Lipka had seven points, two steals and six rebounds.
