Tuesday's area roundup: Danvers girls earn first win of the season

Ipswich 4, Manchester Essex 1: The Tigers (2-0-2) broke out offensively after back-to-back scoreless ties. Sophomore Sydney Law had two goals and senior Katie Monahan and Devin Smith each had one and Emily Folan had one assist for the winners, who led 3-0 at the break.

Notre Dame 2, Bishop Fenwick 0: Goalie Merry Harrington made 15 saves for the Crusaders (3-1-1) in their first loss of the season.

Masconomet 1, Newburyport 1: Paige Pratt scored midway through the second half to tie the game for the Chieftains (2-0-1). Freshman keeper Katie Pelletier made 18 saves and was outstanding in goal.

agateHed:FIELD HOCKEY

Bp. Fenwick 4, Notre Dame 0: Erinn Johnson and Kathleen Moran had a goal and an assist each as the Crusaders improved to 5-1. Jackie Hart and Erin Clancy also scored as Fenwick took the lead with 42 seconds left in the first half and scored three in the second stanza to put the game away. Victoria Hernandez, Maura Benson and Nicole Collina led the effort on defense and Bridget Townsend made eight saves in net.

Beverly 7, Revere 0: Molly Pitman and Felicity Otterbein each scored two goals and Camden Vitale, Nicole Woods and Chloe O’Gorman had one apiece for the Panthers (5-1). Kate Silvestri and MaryCate Flaherty each had multiple assists.

Marblehead 5, Salem 1: Kendall Casey scored two goals and Hannah Fobert, Suzanne McCarthy and Grace McGurrin had one each to help the Magicians move to 3-1. Eliza Fitzgerald, Molly Ackerman and Maggie Danforth also played well for Marblehead.

Danvers 2, Peabody 0: The Falcons (2-1-1) remained unbeaten in their last three after Anna O’Neill and Nicole Kamens provided the goals. Rachel Trocchi had one assist, Nicole Papamichael earned the shutout in goal and Kamens, a senior captain, had an outstanding all-around effort.

Waring 7, Gann 2: Aiden Wood scored twice and Kyle Patrick had two goals and two assists for Waring (2-0). Jacob Vannak also had a tremendous volley into the top right corner of the cage on a cross.
