Tuesday's area roundup: Danvers girls earn first win of the season


St. Mary’s splits tri-meet: The Spartans defeated Archbishop Williams 15-50, before falling to Arlington Catholic 47-15 in yesterday’s tri-meet. Sarah Ryan finished eighth overall in 23:10 and Sarah Corbett was 10th.


Ipswich 135, Rockport 100: The Tigers improved to 4-1 behind 28 points from senior co-captain Austin Rubino. Junior Jacob Reedy chipped in with 25 points and senior Ryan Mulkerin added 22.

Peabody 451/2, Salem 261/2: The Tanners got wins in the top five positions and another from No. 7 to cruise past Salem. Nolan Franey (7-2), Matt Correale (7-2), Steve Ferrante (8-1), Patrick McCarthy (51/2-3 1/2), Ted Izzo (61/2-2 1/2) and Chris Ciampa (61/2-2 1/2) produced the Peabody (3-2) wins.

Newburyport 160, Hamilton-Wenham 126: Harrison O’Brien and Mike Gillis each produced 26 points for Hamilton-Wenham, but it wasn’t enough. Dillon Durand also contributed 20 points for the Generals (2-3).

Peabody 451/2, Salem 261/2: A.J. Darmody (7-2) and Josh Powers (5-4) each had wins for the Witches (2-4).

Marblehead 491/2, Swampscott 221/2: Pitch Riley shot a 34, good for par, while Owen Picariello shot a 37 for the Magicians (5-1). Max Cohen led the way for Swampscott (2-3), earning a tie in his match.

Beverly 561/2, Revere 141/2: Shamus Desmond and Ryan Anderson both won their matches (81/2- 1/2), while Ted Leathersich took his match (6-3) as the Panthers continue their unbeaten streak at 6-0.


Lynn English 3, Salem 2: The Witches (2-4) rallied to win the fourth set before ultimately falling 25-23, 18-25, 19-25, 25-15, 13-15. Cody Homan had 14 kills to lead the offense and Hannah Mularkey collected 10 kills while Kayti LeFrancois was strong defensively with eight digs.

Whittier Tech 3, NST/Essex Aggie 1: Kasey Harris had 22 service points and four aces for the Bulldogs (2-3).

Peabody 3, Marblehead 2: Behind a stellar game from senior Carolyn Scacchi, who had 11 kills, four blocks, six aces and 15 service points, the Tanners improved to 4-0 on the season (23-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16, 15-10). Rachel Barrett recorded 17 service points, while Olivia Summit and Emily Diezemann each have five kills and two blocks.

Revere 3, BeverLy 1: The Panthers move to 3-2 on the season after yesterday’s loss to the Patriots (13-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-23).
