Tuesday's area roundup: Beverly boys edge Danvers in cross country thriller


Worcester State 7, Salem State 2: April McDermott won at first single (6-3, 6-0) and Katie Razzaboni won at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-4) but the Lady Vikings (1-4) didn’t get any other points against Worcester State.


Endicott 2, Babson 1 (OT): Taylor Geas scored her first goal of the year in the 100th minute to lift the Gulls (5-3-1) to an overtime win that was also Babson’s first loss of the year. Laura Wysocki scored for Endicott in the second half to erase a 1-0 Babson lead and keeper Katie Donnelly stopped four shots.


Eastern Conn. 1, Salem State 0: The Vikings (0-6) actually didn’t have a shot until the 74th minute and it came off the foot of Samir Zepaj. Salem State keeper Nondas Kargakis made four saves.


Newbury 3, Salem State 0: The Lady Vikings (1-4) lost 29-27 in a tough first set and couldn’t recover as they lost the next two 25-21, 25-21. Jazmin Santos led Salem State with 13 kills and also picked up 13 digs while Emily Peay had nine kills and MacKenzie Carpenter had 25 assists.

Wentworth 3, Gordon 2: The Fighting Scots fell to 6-7 on the year in their second conference match by set scores of 25-23, 23-25, 28-30, 25-21, 8-15.


Gordon 3, WNEC 1: Courtney Scott notched her 14th goal of the year and Sarah Shannon and Brittany Hawkins also scored as the Fighting Scots improved to 6-2 on the season.

Endicott 7, Roger Williams 0: The Gulls (5-3) blitzed host RWU en route to a Commonwealth Coast Conference win. Kathryn Walker, Elizabeth Leclair and MacKenzie Hurst each scored two goals in the victory as Endciott had a 17-2 edge in shots.
