Dom Buonopane picked the perfect time for a career-best performance yesterday afternoon at Turner Hill.
Buonopane, a senior for Masconomet, produced 32 points playing in the Chieftains’ seventh spot to help his team edge North Reading, 155-151.
Buonopane had a two-putt par on his final hole to finish off the Hornets.
“It’s his first year on the team and he had 28 (points) one time, but this was definitely his best round of the year,” Masco coach Ben Hodges said. “After losing a couple matches early, it was nice to get a big win. They were ahead of us in the standings when the match started.”
Masco (5-3 overall, 5-2 Cape Ann League) also got 28 points from Paul O’Kelly, 26 from Joe Klingensmith, and 25 from Christian Cardarelli.
Winthrop 481/2, Salem 231/2: Cam Twomey won at No. 5 for the Witches, 5-4, and A.J. Darmody prevailed at No. 6, 51/2-31/2. Salem slipped to 2-6.

St. John’s Prep 6, Catholic Memorial 1: Junior Paul Magazzu had two goals, and Junior Stephen Heintz scored his first varsity goal on a picturesque free kick from 20-yards away. Justin Blanch had a goal and an assist, Matt Chilton and Tom Erickson also scored. Bobby Holmes and Jared Costa split time in goal for the Eagles (6-0-1).
Hamilton-Wenham 1, Georgetown 1: Thomas Dowd finished a corner from Russel Gregorian midway through the second half but the Royals answered a few minutes later. Sweeper Nick Loeper and stopped Aidan Prior played well for the Generals (2-1-3) and defender Frank Buco made a head-up play backing up the goalie to save a goal.
Somerville 2, Masconomet 1: Senior Max Craig scored in the 71st minute to cut Somerville’s lead in half, but the damage was already done. Jeff Panella played outstanding at center midfield, Adam Grammer was credited with the assist and Willie Stewart made 10 saves in goal for the Chieftains (5-0 CAL).
