Jackson McPherson’s header with under a minute to play lifted Danvers to a 2-1 win over Beverly. The Panthers went ahead 1-0 early and Danvers drew even on a Ryan Kelleher goal assisted by Matt Kidney.
The as time wound down, Danvers (5-1-3) won a loose ball in the box and Chris Davis collected it and took it wide. His pass went to Nikolay Sakhin, who crossed it to McPherson at the post for the winning marker.
“Davis had a really good game up top. He definitely would’ve had the hockey assist on that goal,” said Danvers coach Mike Chase. “This was a big win for the guys in a close game.”
Sweeper Kidney had a very strong game for the Falcons while senior Zach Noring had an “unbelievable” game, said Chase.
Pentucket 1, Ipswich 0: The Tigers dipped to 5-4 on the season with a narrow loss.
Peabody 2, Marblehead 2: The Tanners were less than a minute away from recording another win, but Marblehead scored off a corner kick with 30 seconds to force the tie. Ben Manoogian scored off a pass from Christian Morales in the first half to give Peabody (6-0-2) the lead. Kenny Sawyer finished Connor Wolff’s corner kick in the second half to give the Tanners a 2-1 advantage. C.J. Alimonte, Jake Silva and Ryan Wolff also played well for Peabody.
Masconomet 5, Lynnfield 0: Regan Charie had one goal and two assists and Steve Heintzelman earned the shutout in his first varsity start in goal as the Chieftains improved to 7-1-1. Max Craig, Kevin Gilbert, Adam Grammer and Shane Collins also scored for Masconomet.
Peabody 1, Marblehead 0: Freshman Molly Tansey scored the game’s only goal with 10 minutes to go as the Tanners (6-1-1) and senior keeper Caitlin Lodi collected their fourth consecutive shutout. Strong defense from Alex Lomasney, Ali Demeo, Katrina Silva and Katherine Scacchi helped Peabody keep Marblehead off the board.
