---- — The biggest win of the season for the 1963 Masconomet football team came against Pentucket, so its only fitting that those Chieftains will be honored when their 2013 brethren take on the Sachems next Friday night.
Back in 1963, the Chieftains and Sachems were both unbeaten and met in front of nearly 5,000 fans in West Newbury. The game was delayed a week by the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and Masconomet came with with a 22-0 win and the Cape Ann League championship. Masco was coached Walt Roberts, for whom the field at the high school is named, and Pentucket was coached by Tom Flaherty, who is now an assistant for the Sachems.
Co-captains Dave Doughty and Dick Ray will lead the ‘63 Chieftains onto the field in Boxford with members of the team making a halftime presentation. There will also be a gathering in the school after the game, which begins at 7 p.m.
