Area roundup: Generals record eighth shutout with win over Ipswich



Marblehead 38 1/2, Swampscott 33 1/2: Owen Picariello led the unbeaten Magicians (9-0) by shooting 39 while Trevor Jones had a strong round with a 38. Kyle Maulden and Matthew Scholnick also won their matches to help Marblehead come out on top. Swampscott’s Trevor Massey was the medalist with a 36 and won his match 8-1. Kevin Marescalchi also won 5-4, and Pat Burkett and Noah Maercklein each halved their matches.

St. John’s Prep 239, Danvers 251: The Prep moves to 11-3 overall after a strong performance from freshman James Turner, who shot a 38, while Steven Dilisio and Josh Wingardner each shot a 39. Danvers captured the two best scores of the day as Colby Sedler shot 1 under par (35) and Dan McKenna shot 1 over (37).

Peabody 42, Salem 30: Nolan Franey, Matt Correale and James Greaves all had strong performances for the Tanners who move to 6-3. Tim Richmond (5 1/2-3 1/2) and Adam Maggiacomo (5 1/2-3 1/2) had the wins for Salem (5-9).

Ipswich 141, Rockport 135: Leading the way for Ipswich were juniors Austin Rubino and Ryan Mulkerin with 24 points each, while senior Jeremy Stelline recorded 22 points.


Marblehead 3, Malden 1: Leah Brooks, Anna Roy and Hannah Fobart scored for Marblehead (7-3-1), which also got two assists from Tyler Phillips and one from Mimi Goetz. Eliza Fitzgerald and Maggie Forbes played well for the Magicians.


Endicott 0, Tufts 0: The Gulls move to 7-4-2 after yesteday’s non-league double overtime stalemate. Sophomore keeper Katie Donnelly finished with 10 saves.


St. Joseph’s 1, Salem State 0: Vikings’ netminder Michelle Boyer was unable to control the rebound, as Rachelle Messuri was able to get one by in the second half. Boyer was active in the cage and tallied 10 saves in a losing effort for Salem State (8-4).
