Area roundup: Sardo, team effort leads Pingree to thrilling win


Bishop Fenwick Archbishop Williams 1: Rishad DeSilva recorded the Bishop Fenwick (5-8-4) marker on an assist from Iftimi Arapi. According to head coach Nick Padovani it was the Crusaders’ best game of the season.

Waring 5, Chapel Hill 0: Waring (4-2-3) used two goals from Galen March and Matt Lyman to down Chapel Hill. Alex Mitchell filled in at keeper nicely and Teddy Lyman had a strong defensive outing.


Ipswich 1, Rockport 1: Ipswich took a 1-0 lead when Maria Balzer put home her own rebound after a corner kick, but Rockport answered three minutes later to tie the game. Junior midfielder Katie Monahan played well for the Tigers (5-4-6) before leaving the game with an injury.

Pingree 4, Berwick Academy 0: Kerri Zerfoss and Charlotte Esty had a goal and an assist each while getting strong play from the back line of Katlyn Oliver, Jackie Maren, Maggie Grennell and Kristina Caradonna kept Berwick off the board. Taylor Landers and Emma Whalen also scored for Pingree (5-3).

Bishop Fenwick 6, Archbishop Williams 0: Colleen Corcoran scored a pair of goals for Bishop Fenwick (7-4-4) while Rose Fantozzi, Vicky Caruso, Danielle Deltorto and Natalie Emerson had a goal each.


Masconomet 168, Lynnfield 147: Senior captain Zack Staub and sophomore George May both shot even par 36s at Turner Hill in Ipswich for the Cape Ann League champion Chieftains (14-1). Senior captain Charlie May added 32 points in the win while senior Matt Peacock had a fine round, finishing with 28 points.

Hamilton-Wenham 119, Pentucket 103: The Generals (2-14) closed the season with a revenge victory over the Sachems. Pentucket defeated H-W by 54 points earlier in the season, but Brian Nicoll (28 points), J.D. Askwith (28), Spencer Bergholtz (17) and Kevin Heppner (16) helped the Generals pull out the win this time around.

Ipswich 118, Amesbury 116: Senior Jeremy Stelline was the leading scorer for Ipswich (5-11) with 26 points, Austin Rubino added 24 points and Adam Stelline chipped in 20 points.
