Area roundup: Sardo, team effort leads Pingree to thrilling win


University of New England 3, Endicott 2: The Gulls (10-4) suffered their first CCC loss of the season to move to 6-1 in the conference. Hannah Thornberg recorded both of Endicott’s goals, one in each half.


Endicott 2, Nichols 0: Senior captain Caitlin Peters scored her first goal of the season early in the first half as the Gulls improved to 9-5-2 overall. LeeAnn Card netted the second of the game, while sophomore goalkeeper Katie Donnelly recorded two saves for the shutout.


Endicott 5, Roger Williams 4: The Gulls stormed back from a 4-1 deficit to advance to the Commonwealth Coast Conference finals. Natalie Egbert and Chrissy Martel won 8-2 at doubles for Endicott’s only point in the first five matches. Endicott (13-2) then swept the top four singles spots for the win.

Emilie Cloutier (6-3, 6-2), Martel (6-2, 7-5), Egbert (6-2, 6-2) and Amy Heacox (3-6, 7-5, 6-4) closed it out for the Gulls, who will play Nichols this weekend in the championship.
