Gabel's goal lifts Marblehead field hockey to shutout victory

Hamilton-Wenham 0, Newburyport 0: A battle of the Cape Ann League’s top two squads saw outstanding defensive performances from both sides in this scoreless tie. Suzanne Rose and Emily Gaucher excelled for the entire 80 minutes for Hamilton-Wenham (now 11-1-2).

Ipswich 0, Georgetown 0: The Tigers, who remain one point shy of qualifying for the state tournament, tied their seventh game of the season and are now 5-4-7 overall. Molly Markos pitched the shutout in goal while fellow senior captain Courtney Long had a fine game defensively at sweeper.

Waring 2, Brimmer & May 2: Eighth grader Amanda Adams tallied her 17th goal of the season while her older sister, junior Brooke Adams, notched the tying goal with 30 seconds left as Waring (9-3-1) earned the tie. Elanor Lustig assisted on the tying goal and senior captain Coco Young had six saves in goal, including a diving stop that she pushed over the bar.
