---- — Heather Gomes has played a key role in the Beverly gymnastics team’s successful year and although the Panthers’ season ended earlier this month, they will celebrate another undefeated regular season campaign at their banquet tonight at the Franco American Club.

The Panthers, who went 9-0 for the third consecutive regular season, dominated the Northeastern Conference and made their second straight appearance at states this winter.

Gomes capped off her sophomore season with a New England Championship bid in which she took home second place in the all-around with a 37.325. This particular meet featured the top two teams from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut as well as the top six individuals from each state in each event and the all-around.

“This is a huge accomplishment as the best of the best were represented at this meet from all over New England,” said head coach Lauryn Ginsburg. “Heather has been a huge contributor this season for the Beverly team, leading the way with huge scores at every meet.”

Gomes had solid routines on all four events. She placed 6th on vault 9.4, 3rd on beam 9.45, and 6th on floor 9.2.

Senior captains Loralee Smith and Adrianna Beatrice also had standout performances this year as they were both selected to the Senior National Team, which competes in Fort Meyers Beach, Florida in May. Beatrice and Smith were chosen to represent Massachusetts at the national competition.
