Andrew Irving, a freshman defenseman on the Beverly High hockey squad, is an exciting player to watch. Irving pairs up with senior tri-captain Ryan Gilligan as a starting defensemen for the Panthers.
Hockey is in his genes. His dad, Stu Irving, was a member of the 1972 US silver medalist US Olympic team.
"He's only 14 years old, but he doesn't play like a 14 year old," said BHS head coach Bob Gilligan. "He's got all the tools; he the real deal."
In addition to being a solid defenseman, Irving is also a scoring threat with three goals and seven assists in his team's first 10 games.
