BOYS BASKETBALL
North Shore Tech boys basketball coach Jody Norton is happy, but not satisfied.
The Bulldogs became the first team in program history to earn an outright Commonwealth Conference Small title when they defeated Northeast 75-52 last night. North Shore was co-champions in the 1985-86 season.
"It's our goal every year and we finally got to where we wanted to get, and I think we can go further," Norton said. "We're talented enough to make noise in the (Division 4 North) tourney if we come out to play."
Junior center Jordan Smith had another monster night for the Bulldogs, scoring a season-high 32 points while grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking 10 shots. Pat Wood contributed 20 points.
"Four years ago our seniors — Juan Juan and Scott Blanchette — thought they'd get one before they left and I'm happy for them," Norton said. "They led the way and pushed their teammates to stay focused. We're 7-0 in league play and they're a big part of that because of their constant nagging of teammates in a positive way."
