BASKETBALL
Hamilton-Wenham's Matt Cook was named Cape Ann League Small Player of the Year and his coach, Doug Hoak, was named Coach of the Year as the CAL announced its all-star team. Masconomet's Adam Bramanti and John Daniels also made the grade as all-league selections. The other all-league players were Tommy O'Connell (CAL Large Player of the Year) and Matt Sifferlin of North Andover, Mike Messman of Georgetown, Joe Mussachia of Manchester Essex, P.J. Dionne of North Reading, Corey McNamara of Pentucket, Josh Altman of Rockport, and Mike Murphy and Vinny Scifo of Wilmington. Meanwhile, North Andover's Mike McVeigh was the CAL Large Coach of the Year.
Hamilton-Wenham's Steve Tam and Chris Hamilton were named CAL All-Stars along with Ipswich's Aaron Jessen and Masco's Chris Splinter. The other league all-stars were Steve Deas of Amesbury, Chris L'Italien of Georgetown, Brian Corcoran of Lynnfield, Sean Nally of Manchester Essex, Nick Welch of Newburyport, Alex Blane of North Andover, Phil MacArthur of Rockport and Darren Lewis of Triton. Masconomet and Ipswich received the team sportsmanship awards and Lynnfield's Freddy Shove got the McCoy Award for Courage.

Ipswich's Hannah O'Flynn was named Cape Ann League Small Player of the Year as the league announced its all-star team. Ipswich coach Mandy Zegarowski took home CAL Small Coach of the Year. Pentucket's Ashley Viselli and Erin McNamara were CAL Large co-players of the year while Sachems' coach John McNamara was named Coach of the Year. Newburyport received the Team Sportsmanship award while Rockport received the honors for the CAL Small.
Ipswich's Stephanie Sutherby (senior guard) joined O'Flynn on the all-league squad along with Masconomet's Brooke Stewart (sophomore guard) and Carly Kiernan (senior forward) and Hamilton-Wenham's Simone Prioli (senior guard). Other members of the CAL all-league team include Lizzy Ball of Manchester-Essex, Beth Castantini of Newburyport, Erika Zahoruiko of North Andover, Kirsten Morrison of North Reading, Jen Rock of Triton, and Amy Fahey of Wilmington.
Masconomet's Emily Winskowicz was named to the CAL all-star team along with Ipswich's Lia Webb (senior forward). Other members of the CAL all-star team include Kerri Salvatore of Amesbury, Samantha Christopher of Manchester-Essex, Lindsey Tomasz of Newburyport, Katie Moroney and Amanda Foote of North Andover, Lauren Hebert of North Reading, Holly Jakobsons, Emily Lane, and Coley Viselli of Pentucket, Maxine Crossman of Triton, Amanda Keane and Maggie Brown of Wilmington, Kerri O'Brien of Georgetown, and Samantha Goldstein of Lynnfield.
CROSS COUNTRY RUN
The eighth annual 5K Olde Salem Greens cross country run will be held on Sunday, March 21 at the golf course, beginning at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $15 and all proceeds will benefit the Salem High cross country team and the Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services youth basketball program.
