Salem Youth Soccer spring registration will be held Sunday for its U6 and U8 in-town season from noon to 3 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Upper Hall at 94 Washington Square East.

Marblehead High hockey captain Anders Gundersen will be among the featured guests on tomorrow's "North Shore Sports Desk" on North Shore 104.9 FM from 8-9 a.m. Salem High boys basketball coach Tommy Doyle will also appear as a guest on the show, as will Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna of Gloucester, who will be giving away a pair of tickets to the Hockey East playoffs. BASKETBALL
Kellie Macdonald was named team MVP as the Danvers High girls basketball awards were handed out recently at the team banquet. Macdonald, the Northeastern Conference Small MVP, led the Falcons to their first league championship this winter. Senior Caite Ward earned the Coach's Award and senior Joanna Zecha was named Most Improved. Jessica Sheedy, Anna DiNitto and Emily Clifford also received senior recognition awards.
Jill Sacco took home the Most Improved Award for the Junior Varsity team, while Kate Murphy picked up the Coach's Award. At the freshman level, Julia Saggese took home the Most Improved and Sarah Potter received the Coach's Award.
SOFTBALL
The Beverly Girls Softball League has opened registration for the upcoming season. Girls ages 5-14 as of Sept. 1, 2009 are invited. Register online at bgsl.net or in person at one of the three clinics to be held at Beverly High. The clinics will be held at Beverly on March 13 and March 27, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. for ages 5-6; 2:45-4 p.m. for ages 7-10; and 4:15-5:30 p.m. for ages 11-14. The clinic fee is $20 for all three sessions and registration will take place at the fieldhouse.

Gridiron Training is hosting its 10-week spring program from March 15 to May 22. This program trains youth, high school and collegiate football players who want to get ready for the 2010 football season. There are both 2 or 3-day training programs available. CHALLENGER BASEBALL
Registration for the Spring Challenger Baseball program for District 15 has begun and registration forms can be found at www.danversnats.com by clicking on the link under 2010 season registration. The Challenger program follows the model designed by Little League Baseball and is for children ages 5-18 that have physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities which may prevent them from participating in a mainstream Little League program. There is no cost, and games will be played on Sundays at Tapley Park in Danvers and depending on the number of players in the league, at Harry Ball Field in Beverly.
