BOSTON — Millie Chapman of Beverly soared to a ninth place finish in the 5,000 meter race yesterday during the Nike Indoor Nationals at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center.
The Beverly High senior superstar finished the race in a time of 17:51. That shattered the mark of 18:36 she set last spring while running the same event outdoors.
"It was a huge improvement for Millie," said Beverly High head coach Dave Jellerson. "She was really happy with the race she ran."
