Beverly 14, Peabody 1: Rachel Trocchi, Livvy Konaxis and Nicole Kamens all had hat tricks as the Panthers moved to 4-0 on the season. Nicole Woods had four assists for Beverly, while Izzy Straw and Karen Hovey scored their first goals of the season. Katie Szela also had a goal and an assist, Caitlin McBride scored with two helpers and goalie Ami Thompson made 11 saves. Sophia Post had the goal for the Tanners (1-5), assisted by Courtney Smith.
Marblehead 5, Gloucester 2: The Headers (3-1) won their third straight to advance to the finals of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Tournament against Beverly tonight. Trip Franzese scored a pair of goals for Marblehead while Tom Koopman and Dean Fader also found the net with Ian Maag, Kyle Koopman and Seth Jones adding assists. Marblehead led 3-0 after two and got a power play goal to close things out after Gloucester rallied to make it 4-2.
Central Catholic 2, St. John’s Prep 1: Brian Pinho scored to make it a one goal game with 4:00 remaining, but the Eagles (2-1) couldn’t get the equalizer and suffered their first loss of the season.
Danvers 0, Lynnfield 0: Sophomore Jay Joyce got his first career start during yesterday’s Kasabuski Christmas Tournament tie. The Falcons put 35 shots on net as they move to 4-0-1 on the season.
Wilmington 7, Masconomet 0: The Chieftains (1-3-1) were blanked in the Gutpill Division of the Haverhill Christmas Tournament and will face Matignon tomorrow in the division’s consolation game.
Melrose 7, Bishop Fenwick 2: The Crusaders (1-5) had a tough outing against a strong Middlesex League club and will face Lynnfield in the next game of the Kasabuski Christmas tournament this morning (11 a.m.).
Cardinal Spellman 41, Bishop Fenwick 36: The Crusaders kept it close, but getting swept in the hurdles was a decisive blow. Annette Ruggiero (300, 45.3), Hannah Smith (600, 1:48), Arianna Maida (2-mile, 12:14), and Maggie Lepley (shot put, 27-9 1/2) were the individual winners for Fenwick (2-1). Smith, Ruggiero, Caitlin Parrott, and Julia Pierce teamed up to win the 4x400 relay in 4:32.
Cardinal Spellman 46, Bishop Fenwick 40: Eric Razney won both the dash (7.02) and long jump (19-3) for the Crusaders (2-1), but it wasn’t enough to propel them to victory. Dan Deschenes (600, 1:29), Bryan Mendes (mile, 4:50), and Patrick Corcoran (shot put, 41-2 1/2) also had wins for Fenwick.
