Masconomet 5, Amesbury 1: The Chieftains (3-4-1) got a much needed win yesterday over their Cape Ann League opponent. Alec DiGiorgio had a goal and two assists to lead Masco in scoring, while Jared Brann added a goal and an assist.
“We had made some changes after the Christmas tournament, we needed this one,” said head coach Andrew Jackson. “Our scoring was well balanced throughout all three lines.”
Mike Castro, Tyler Costello and Steve Pease also added goals in the win, while Matt Cardillo had 19 saves in net.
Gloucester 4, Peabody 2: The Tanners (1-4-1) came out of the second period tied 2-2 thanks to goals by Tyler Gillespe and Reed Foster, but Gloucester scored the winner with 1:47 to play and added an empty-netter. Goalie Joe Powers made 24 saves for Peabody while Eric Hennessey, Chris Minter and Foster assisted on the second period goals, which were scored 32 seconds apart.
Lynn 5, Salem 1: The Witches struck first as Alex Gianello scored at 5:45 in the opening period on an assist from Matt Jalert. Salem held onto its one goal lead until the second period, when Lynn scored three goals in matter of five minutes. Brett Herring had 33 saves in goal.
Swampscott 4, Revere 1: Chris Carman scored a pair of goals and Robert Serino added two assists to help the Big Blue improve to 6-1. Nunzio Maretti and Corey Carmody also scored for Swampscott, while Chris Dandrio had an assist.
Arlington Catholic 7, Bishop Fenwick 0: The Crusaders (2-7 overall) remained winless in Catholic Central League play with a tough loss at home.
Masconomet 4, Auburn 0: Kylie Currier had three assists on goals by Maddy Werner, Nancy Palermo and Dana Valletti as the Chieftains (4-1) won their second straight. Goaltender Alex Jones was perfect in recording her second shutout of the season, Jensena Moner also scored while Palermo (goal, assist) and Werner (goal, assist) had multi-point games and Meghan Hubbard, Sydney Sheerin and Alex Casale earned single assists.
