Bishop Fenwick 5, Revere 5: Drew Thibodeau scored four goals to lead his team back from three separate one-goal deficits. Fenwick (3-16-2) led 5-4 in the third period before Revere tied the score. P.J. Usalis also scored for Fenwick and added two assists while Mike Napolitano had two assists and the Crusaders prevailed in the shootout to adavnce in the Newburyport Bank Ice Hockey Classic.
St. John’s prep 6, St. John’s Shrewsbury 2: Captain Brian Pinho had two goals and two assists while linemates Tyler Bird and Jack McCarthy both contributed a goal and two assists as the Eagles (16-2-1) scored four times in the first period and held the hosts to just 13 shots. The Prep scored two power play goals and also got a shorthanded snipe from Mark Azarian. Winger Andrew Brandano also scored for the Eagles while defenseman Ryan Byrne had arguably his best game of the season.
Arlington 52, Bishop Fenwick 44: The Crusaders end their season at 6-14 as senior captain Ben Maxner recorded 12 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in last nigth’s loss. Joe Buccheri added eight points, five rebounds and four steals.
Salem State 4, Worcester State 3: Keaton Cashin scored his first collegiate goal to give Salem State the lead for good and Matt Kenline, Eric Defelice and Ian Canty also scored as the Vikings (13-11-1) won their regular season finale and wrapped up the third seed in the upcoming MASCAC postseason tournament. Ed Fritz made 23 saves in net for Salem State.
MEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Salem State 86, Worcester State 78: All five starters scored in double figures for Salem State (16-10), which advanced to the MASCAC semi-finals tomorrow. Bryan Ortiz was the high-scorer with 17 points while Hanell Velez scored 16, Tavone Wynder added 15. Jamal McCollum scored 14 and Andrew White added 12 as SSU shot 48 percent from the floor while holding Worcester to 38 percent.
