The Salem Senior Babe Ruth team forced a deciding game in its playoff series with Hamilton-Wenham on Saturday, but the weather pushed back the conclusion last night.
Matt Marquez allowed four hits and struck out five over six innings and Zack Leblanc allowed one hit in one inning to close out a 10-4 win over Hamilton-Wenham Saturday.
A thunderstorm stopped last night’s Game 3 in the fifth inning with the teams locked in a 0-0 tie.
The game will be picked up tonight (6:15 p.m.) at Palmer’s Cove in Salem, with the winner moving on to play Peabody.
Sean Curtin and Daniel Bailey each had three hits in Salem’s win in Game 2, while Cody Mercier, Timmy Ryan, and Joey Kozlowski each contributed two hits.
In yesterday’s game, George Hellios needed only 37 pitches to get through 42/3 innings, allowing only one hit. Salem, on the other hand, hadn’t recorded a hit through four innings.
