Pingree Day Camp will sponsor two free family skate dates over the holiday break at Pingree’s Johnson Rink: Thursday, December 27 and Wednesday, January, 2, 1:30-3:30 p.m. No pucks or sticks, please. HALLS OF FAME

The Salem High School Hall of Fame is accepting nominations through January 16 for the 2013 induction class. Submissions will be accepted for former athletes, coaches or community members who made outstanding contributions. Nomination forms and eligibility for membership can be found on the Salem High School website or in the Salem High Athletic Office.

SOFTBALL

There will be a softball pitching clinic held at Bishop Fenwick on Sunday mornings beginning December 2, for six weeks for beginners (8:30-9:30) and advanced (10:00-11:00). For more information contact Paul Lyman at 978-744-1717 or 978-815-4202.

CHEERLEADING

The Ipswich youth Football cheerleaders will be hosting a “Holiday Silent Auction” on December 18 from 6-8:00 pm at the 1640 Hart House in Ipswich. Admission is free, but a a donation of an unwrapped gift is encouranged as it will be donated to Ipswich Caring. Proceeds will benefit the IYFL cheerleaders A & C teams, as they have earned the opportunity to travel to Walt Disney World to compete in the UCA National Cheerleading Championship held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. BASEBALL

2012 NSBUA UMPIRE TRAINING CLASS will take place starting on Monday, January 7 at 6:00 pm at the North Shore Regional Vocational High School. The class will meet on consecutive Monday evenings over the course of eight weeks, culminating with the taking of the MBUA certification test on the final night. The course covers all aspects of umpiring: rules, positioning, mechanics, and game-management.

The cost of the class is $100.00, which covers materials, the exam fee and first year’s dues in the NSBUA for all successfully completing the course. SOCCER

North Shore United Soccer will be hosting the 1st Winter Classic Tournament December 26-28 at the Topsfield Arena at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. U10, U12 & U14 Boys and Girls teams will compete in a round robin format; each team has a guarantee of (3) 40 minute games. Cost is $350 per team.
