Salem 16, Bishop Fenwick 8: Chad Coehlo recorded six goals and one assist to help the Witches to 2-0 on the season. Matt Wilson had four goals and two assits, Pete Flaherty added four goals and one assist, while Matt Muse had four helpers. Christian Costa recorded 12 saves in goal. Junior attack Kyle Russell had five goals for Fenwick, while senior Jake Brennan made nine stops in goal.
Bishop Fenwick 6, Austin Prep 2: The Crusaders earned their first league win of the season as junior Natalie Moore pitched a complete game, giving up six its and one earned run, while striking out three batters in her first varsity start. Senior Dimitria Yeannakopoulos went 2-for-4, scored and had 1 RBI, sophomore Jenny Nasser went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI and Jenn Crovo added 2 RBI.
NST/Essex-Aggie 9, Minuteman 2: Senior Tim Anderson went the distance giving up one earned run and six hits while recording six strikeouts for North Shore Tech (1-0). Anderson also contributed to three hits and senior Bryan Jackson added a pair of hits while every hitter in the line up recorded at least one hit.
Pingree 9, Brooks 4: Rob Vantuyl allowed three earned runs in three innings of work for Pingree (1-0) before freshman Cal Perry came in and tossed four innings of shutout ball to get the win. Perry, a Marblehead native, allowed just three hits and no walk while whiffing four in his first varsity appearance. Offensively, Eric Larsen was 2-for-5, Nick Antenucci was 2-for-5 with two RBI, Travis Jakes was 1-for-3 with a RBI and Hossam Hamden was 2-for-3 with three RBI. The Highlanders banged out 13 hits on the day.
Danvers 7, H-W 0: Brandon Hyde went six innings and gave up no runs on seven hits for Danvers (1-0). Offensively, Dan Connors was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Evan Eldridge was 1-for-2 with two RBI, Joe Olszak added a RBI single and A.J. Couto had a single and two stolen bags.
