Dilisio under par at Mass. Open

After one round, the youngest player in the 105th Massachusetts Open Championship remains in the hunt.

Steven Dilisio of Swampscott, who at 16 is the youngest golfer competing, shot a 1-under par 71 and is tied for 19th after a round of play at the annual Mass Open being held this year at Weston Golf Club.

Tim Ailes is the leader after 18 holes, shooting an outstanding 7-under 65.

The golfers will play another round of 18 holes today, followed by a cut to the top 50 scorers or anyone within seven strokes of the leader. A final day of 18 holes will determine the winner on Thursday.

Dilisio leads a slew of locals in the field. Nick Pandalena shot 3-over to tie for 76th place while Frank Dully shot a 4-over. Peabody native Matt Adams turned in a plus-2 to sit tied for 61st, while young Paul Lei, who is from Middleton, also shot plus-1.
