COLLEGE SOFTBALL
It's the beginning of a new season but it looks like the Endicott softball team will be a force to be reckoned with once again.
The Gulls (4-0) stayed unbeaten by sweeping two games in Florida yesterday, shutting down Utica 6-0 before taking down Springfield, 5-3.
Danielle LaRocque threw seven shutout innings in Endicott's morning victory and Ipswich native Kelley Michael had an RBI. Alli Noyes also drove in a run.
In the nightcap, catcher Krista Fales drove in three runs for the Gulls, who will look to extend their unbeaten streak this morning in the Sunshine State.
Norwich 10, Gordon 1: Kerry McPartlan's sacrifice fly plated Gordon's only run as the Scots (0-2) fell to a solid Norwich team in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
Gulls Swept: Endicott's offensive issues continued as Bowdoin took both ends of a doubleheader, 3-0 and 3-1. Tyler Hitchcock went all seven and allowed just two earned runs but got little help from the bats as the Gulls were one-hit in the nightcap.
McDaniel 11, Gordon 8: The Scots scored six runs in the fourth but wound up falling in a slugfest in Winter Haven, Florida. Brian Harrington had three hits and drove in two runs for Gordon while Ben Davidson also had two RBI. First baseman Eric Wolak had four hits and drove in a run as well.
MEN'S COLLEGE LACROSSE
Whittier (CA) 15, Gordon 2: Dan Perednia scored both goals but the Fighting Scots (1-3) were no match for the Poets in a game contested in California.
MEN'S COLLEGE TENNIS
Endicott 9, Edgewood 0: The Gulls improved to 2-4 in Bluffton, South Carolina by taking every match in straight sets. Olivier Joggi, Porter Williams, Jake Cohen, Ben Randlett, Eric Gandrup and Mike Lauretano won singles bouts for Endicott.
