Weekend area roundup: Beverly Recs pick up three complete game wins

NORTH SHORE LEAGUE

BEVERLY RECS WIN THREE: Getting complete game performances from pitchers Lucas Ilges, Nick Colanto and Alex Peal, respectively, the Recs swept Champions Pub of Peabody, 2-0 and Lynn Brickyard, 7-3 on Saturday before knocking off the Newburyport Nationals, 3-2, yesterday afternoon.

Ilges allowed just two hits and struck out nine in blanking Champions, with Dillon Gonzalez knocking in the game-winning run. Colanto fanned seven in his victory over Lynn, backed back home runs from Mike Davis and Matt Burgess. Peal struck out nine in his victory against Newburyport while T.J. Larviee scored the game-winning run in the sixth inning for playoff-bound Beverly (11-9-1).

SENIOR BABE RUTH

Salem 5, Danvers 3: George Hellios of Beverly nailed down the win for Salem, allowing just one hit over the final three innings and striking out three. Ryan Grey powered the offense with a two-run offense while Anthony Levesque added an RBI double. Dan Bailey contributed a hit and scored twice for Salem (8-5).

FUTURES COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE

Titans 5, Navigators 2: The visiting Navigators could muster just two runs in the eighth inning while allowing the hosts to score five times over the first three innings, falling below .500 (14-15) for the season. Devin Carter’s RBI single scored Tim Hendricks, while just before that Conor Biggio (who had singled) scored on a passed ball for North Shore. Biggio, Carter and Hendricks, the 3-4-5 hitters in the Navs’ lineup, each had two hits on the day.

On Saturday, the Navigators faced Los Tigres Dominicanos and came away with a 9-8 exhibition victory. Kyle Devin of Lynn had a big game offensively with a sacrifice fly, an RBI single to tie the game in the eighth inning, and his bases-loaded grounder in the seventh produced three seperate errors, allowing all three North Shore runners to score. Devin himself came around the score on that last play on a passed ball; Biggio scored the game-winning run on a passed ball as well.
