Monday's area roundup: Beverly Lou Tompkins squad rolls over Acton

Beverly 13, Acton 1: Eric Messina struck out 14 and finished a 1-hitter to lead Beverly (12-4) to victory. Anthony DiOrio led the offense with a 2-for-4 effort, three RBI and two runs scored. Luke McDonald added a pair of RBI and scored a run on a 2-for-2 mark of his own.


Old Orchard Beach 3, North Shore 2: The Raging Tide scored in the bottom of the ninth to break a 2-2 tie and send the Navigators (18-18) home with a loss. The Navs took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the fourth, driven in by Blaise Lezynski and Eddie Reese.

Earlier in the day, North Shore’s Tim Hendricks, Devin Carter and Derek Dubois were named FCBL all-stars. They’ll play in the FCBL all-star game on Thursday; Navs closer Ryan Grant has a chance to join them, as he’s part of the league’s fan vote to determine the final player.


Swampscott Sox 10, Lynn 6: The Sox took care of the Brickyard Legends to win for the fourth time in their last five outings and improve to 8-11 on the season.
