Area roundup: Massey out-duels Daly as Swampscott edges Marblehead


Concord Carlisle 12, Masconomet 8: Sophomore goalie Lili Miller was outstanding, stopping 16 shots and keeping the Chieftains in the game. Masco cut Concord Carlisle’s lead to one goal (9-8) with five minutes left, but couldn’t finish the comeback. Becca Phillips also played well, scoring three goals on three shots for Masco (4-2).


Beaver Country Day 3, Pingree 2: The Highlanders (1-3) swept in doubles play as No. 1 singles team Gabe Salter/Nate Johnson won 6-2, 6-3 and No. 2 doubles Jack Santimi/Matt Menzie won 6-2, 6-2 in yesterday’s team loss.

Beverly 4, Peabody 1: The Panthers continue their undefeated season with their fourth win yesterday. No. 2 singles player Peter Colletti (6-4, 6-1) won his match, as did No. 3 singles Antuan Tran (6-0, 6-0). Eno Jahaj/Chris Tocco (6-1, 6-4) and Connor Gill/Owen Bolas (6-4, 4-6, 6-4) also won in doubles play. Mike Warren was victorious for the Tanners (2-2) at No. 1 singles, winning his set 6-4, 6-3.

Hamilton-Wenham 4, Amesbury 1: Woody Watson rallied to win at first singles and propelled the Generals (2-1). Adam Celeta (6-0, 7-6) also won at singles and H-W swept doubles behind Reed Forsey/Frankie Bucco (6-2, 6-4) and Drew Nekeroski/Jack Hopkins (6-0, 7-5).

Swampscott 4, Winthrop 1: Matt Jabobs (6-0, 6-0), Val Kemmin (6-1, 6-2) won in singles play for the undefeated Big Blue (4-0). No. 1 doubles Matt Gilberg/Sam Crimmins (6-1, 6-2) also won as did second pair Ian Crimmins/Mike Pindrus (6-3, 6-1).

Marblehead 3, Danvers 2: Marblehead took both doubles matches behind Dimitri Vlassoc/Michael Forte (6-2, 6-0) and Ben Goldstein/Jason Frost (6-3, 6-1) and Griffin Butterfield won in straght sets at No. 3 singles. Danvers’ Nick Lisichenok and Gabe Ochonski won three set singles matches.

Lynnfield 5, Ipswich 0: Michael Prine-Robie played well at second singles, but lost a three-set match as Ipswich slipped to 1-3.

Masconomet 4, Newburyport 1: Jake Roscoe/Nick Drago and Sam Gordon/Clay Greenberg won the doubles in straight sets as Masco (3-1 overall) stayed undefeated in the CAL. Cam Netland and John Cabour also won.


Masconomet 5, Newburyport 0: Danielle Dunn (6-0, 6-0), Lexi Palumbo (6-1, 6-0) and Rebecca Costa (6-0, 6-0) all won in straight sets as the Chieftains moved to 3-2. Samantha Moynihan/Maria Alexandrou (6-2, 6-0) and Alexa Ina/Brooke Hunziker (6-1, 6-3) followed by sweeping doubles.
