Danvers’ Manson breaks school record: Senior Joe Manson broke the Danvers High School record for longest throw (57-00.75) in the shot put at this weekend’s New Balance Indoor Nationals at the Armory in New York City. Manson held the previous record from a throw last year and finished 11th overall.
Fenwick’s Corcoran finishes strong: Bishop Fenwick senior Pat Corcoran placed 23rd overall in the weight throw (59-09.75). Head coach Jay Smith said that his performance at Nationals was a “true testament to all the hard work this season.”
Peabody’s relay teams place: In the Emerging Elite 1600 sprint medley race, Peabody’s Scott Myers, Christopher Cennami, Tommy Drover and Drew Fossa finished 28th overall with a time of 3:47. The 4x55 meter shuttle hurdle team of Alex Bunal, Christian Cedullo, Justin Butler and David Tramonte was 22nd in the finals with a time of 34.2.
Lady Crusaders place at Nationals: Senior captain Maggie Lepley was 12th (38-01.75) in the Emerging Elite weight throw category, while Carolyn Claveau took 19th with a throw of 37-00.25 on Friday at Nationals.
SSU wins opening pair: The Vikings opened their 2013 season with back-to-back wins over the weekend in Fort Myers, Florida. SSU outscored its opponents (Albright and Medaille) 16-9 in the first two games.

Endicott hosts March Mania tourney: The Gulls finished its annual March Mania Invitational 3-1 overall to move to 15-5 on the season. Endicott had wins over Elms, Johnson and Wales and Emmanuel. Junior outside hitter Josh Anderson combined for 25 kills in the tournament, while Carter Roche dished out 75 assists over the weekend.
Salem State 10, Dominican 1: Junior pitcher Ryan Hyjek struck out 10 batters over six innings, allowing two hits and one run as the Vikings won their season opener on Friday. SSU lost both of Saturday’s games to Neumann, but defeated Heidelberg 11-9 yesterday afternoon to even out the record at 2-2.
