Monday's area roundup: Endicott's Weber nets eight goals in win


Endicott 16, Eastern Connecticut 12: Sophomore attacker Kyle Weber scored a game-high eight goals, matching a program record for most goals in single game, as the Gulls move to 3-1 in the early part of the season. Goalie Cameron Bell made 12 saves in the victory, while Chris Murphy and Sam Ozycz netted a pair of goals each.


Salem State 10, St. Lawrence University 8: The Vikings improve to 3-2 overall on the season. Scoring 10 or more runs in all three of their wins, the Vikings have been poised at the plate during their Florida trip.

Fitchburg State 7, Gordon 2: The Scots even out their record at 3-3 on the season as they continue their spring training trip in Florida. Eric Walker went 2-for-5, while Eric Rinaldi was 2-for-4 at the plate.


Gordon drops a pair: The Fighting Scots opening their 2013 season with back-to-back losses against Penn College of Technology and Philadelphia yesterday afternoon. Gordon scored just two runs in the first game, and was shutout in the second. Junior pitcher Skylar Bareford left the mound after three innings of work, allowing 10 runs on nine hits with one strikeout and no walks. Classmate Kelly Beardslee finished in the relief in the final two innings for the Scots allowing three runs on four hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

SSU splits doubleheader: Salem State won its opening three games before dropping the second of two games yesterday in Fort Myers, Florida. The Vikings (3-1) defeated Pitt-Bradford, 6-3 in the first game of the doubleheader and lost the second one Medaille.
