Lynn English 7, Danvers 4: The Falcons (4-1) were up three runs but completely lost control against the Bulldogs to suffer their first loss of the season. Danvers looks to rebound today when it hosts Marblehead.
Bedford 6, Swampscott 1: Al Wallach gave up four earned but pitched well in his six innings of work for the Big Blue (0-5).
Lynnfield 12, Ipswich 1: Erik Gongas scored on a single by Freddy Cerendulo as the Tigers move to 1-3 on the year.
Masconomet 5, Newburyport 2: Senior righty Will Twiss was dominant on the bump, allowing four hits and striking out nine through seven innings. The two runs Newburyport scored were unearned and Twiss needed only 86 pitches to finish the game. He struck out four of the last six batters he faced.
Elias Varinos ripped two doubles, scored a run and drove in a run. Joe Klingensmith added one hit, two walks, two runs and two stolen bases, while Tom Budrewicz had an RBI triple and scored a run for Masco (5-0 overall, 4-0 in the Cape Ann League).
Marblehead 4, Everett 2: Senior pitcher Michaela Leblanc got the win on the hill. She gave up seven hits, two earned runs, two strikeouts and no walks. The Magicians scored in the first as shortstop Olivia Vener started the game off with a base hit, she stole second and third base and scored on a passed ball. Vener injured her wrist in the second and left the game. Freshman Montana Joyce replaced Vener and was solid with two put outs. Joyce led off the third with a base hit to left and also scored the games second run. Catcher Emily Messinger went 2-for-3 with a fence clearing solo homer in the fifth.
North Shore Tech/Essex Aggie 18, Shawsheen 6: NST/EA (3-1) had a number of offensive standouts. Dianna LeBlanc had three hits and two RBI, Rhiannon Lane finished with two hits and two RBI, Kasey Harris added two hits and four RBI, Christine Cafiso had three hits and two RBI, Erika Welch finished with two hits, two RBI and Kaylyn Countie contributed two hits.
