Friday's area roundup: Marblehead girls tennis bests Peabody


Bancroft 3, Pingree 2: The Highlanders tied it in the bottom of the seventh on Cal Perry’s sacrifice fly, but visiting Bancroft pushed across a run in the top of the eighth and held on to win. Jeff DiPiero struck out 12 in seven innings of work and allowed only two unearned runs for Pingree (3-4) while Ryan St. Pierre had an RBI single and Reese Fulmer had a hit and scored a run.


Waring 17, Newman 0: Jacrob Baneck recorded six assists and Matt Lyman scored four goals as the Mavericks improve to 3-0 on the season. Freshmen Mike Ballin, Sam Lincoln and Henry Gribbell scored their first career goals, while goalie Johnny Sandri earned his first career shutout.

Triton 14, Ipswich 9: Connor McAdams, Connor Killian and Tommy Ginolfi each netted two goals for the Tigers (2-5). Jeff Statile made a dozen saves in net, while Eddy Flaherty played well on defense.

Brooks 10, Pingree 4: Sam Ober scored a pair of goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Highlanders 4-3. Arjen Steegstra and Matt Trotsky also scored, Carter Rossano added two assists and C.J. White made 15 saves.

North Shore Tech/essex Aggie 9, Greater Lowell 4: Dan McCormick netted four goals, while Anthony Huntley scored four points on three goals and one assist to lead the Hawks (4-3) to victory. Scott Starrak and Anthony Santo contributed with a goal each.


Peabody 13, Swampscott 10: Sarah Napolitano racked up six points and Aly Bortone had five as the Tanners moved to 3-4 on the season. Lauren Wolfe (three points) and Courtney Smith (two) also contributed offensively while freshman Gianna Denisco made seven saves in her first action in goal.

Beverly 15, Swampscott 6: Camden Vitale (four goals, two assists) and Liz Musuneci (three goals, one assist) led the way for the Panther (6-1). Grace Otterbein and Meghan Gavin netted a pair of scores, while Meghan Henrichon, Annie Kostrubanic, Darcy McAuliff and Maeve Blake also scored in the win.
