Friday's area roundup: Marblehead girls tennis bests Peabody

Ipswich 14, Triton 10: Olivia Moutevelis scored five goals to help the Tigers up their record to 7-1.

Danvers 10, Marblehead 9: The Falcons held on as Marblehead fell to 5-5. Ellie Ronan had three goals for the Magicians, while Lucy Poulin and Emily Freedland each scored two.

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL

Springfield 3, Endicott 0: The Gulls fell to the two-time defending NCAA Division 3 champions in the quarterfinals of the 2014 national tournament, 25-9, 25-10, 25-21. Senior Travis Netherteon came up with five kills for Endicott while sophomores Chandler Tayek and John Osborne had four each and Tyler Bacon fished out 14 assists.

Endicott (19-13) won the first NCAA tournament match in program history last week and won the NECC championship before that. They graduate NECC Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Jessee as well as Netherton and Mike Coniglione, first-team all-conference picks.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Gordon takes two: The Fighting Scots won both ends of a doubleheader against Coast Guard, 5-4 and 8-4 to improve to 13-22 on the season. Alonzo Martinez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Travis Pullen had two hits and scored twice with Jameson Boyd picking up his first win of the season. Mark Fitzgerald drove in a pair in the second game and Jesse Amaya scored the winning run in the seventh on a passed ball.
