Monday's area roundup: Sullivan's performance lifts Big Blue baseball by Peabody

GIRLS TENNIS

Salem 5, Winthrop 0: The Witches improved to 2-4 as Ari Gaffney (6-1, 6-0), Madison Ballou (6-3, 6-4) and Kayti LeFrancois (6-0, 6-0) rolled in singles play, as did Ashley Capone and Jessi Tassinari (7-6 (12-10), 6-3) and Hannah Van de Stadt and Katherine Towey (6-0, 6-4) by completing the sweep in doubles.

Swampscott 5, Revere 0: The Big Blue improved to 6-2 behind straight set victories from Anna Raptunovich (6-0, 6-0), Veronica Pyatigorskaya (6-0, 6-0) and Vivien Gere (6-2, 6-3). Swampscott also won both doubles matches with wins by Jessica Zolott/Anya peterson (6-0, 6-0) and Sara Cunningham/Michelle Schnayder (6-1, 6-0).

Marblehead 5, Beverly 0: Kelly Mealey (6-0, 6-4), Julia Channing (6-0, 6-0) and Lily Frontero (6-1, 6-0) swept in singles action, while Amanda Gilberg/Meagan Hanratty (6-0, 6-0) and Alice Yufa/Sophia Capalbo (6-0, 6-0) took care of doubles play for the Magicians (7-2).

Peabody 3, Danvers 2: No. 1 singles player Rachel Gillis got the win for the Tanners in the final match of the day, winning 6-1, 6-7, 6-2. Kayla Hodas (6-1, 6-1) and Dany Chhan (6-2, 6-3) rounded out the winners for Peabody (6-1).

Manchester Essex 3, Masconomet 2: Danielle Dunn (6-4, 6-4) won at second singles, while Samantha Moynihan/Anna Reineke (6-3, 6-2) took a victory at second doubles for the Chieftains (5-3).

Ipswich 5, Rockport 0: The Tigers improved to 6-4 as Ashley Sulkin (6-1, 6-1), Lexi Lopez (6-3, 6-0) and Hannah Lynch (6-0, 6-1) picked up wins in singles play. Abby McCarthy/Kristin Klimowicz (6-0, 6-4) and Lizzy Gray/Heather Sweeney (6-2, 6-4) swept in doubles action.

BOYS TENNIS

Winthrop 3, Salem 2: The Witches suffered a tough loss despite wins from its first two singles players, Guthrie Scrimgeour (6-3, 6-2) and Cole Jermyn (6-4, 6-2).

Marblehead 4, Beverly 1: Junior Dimitri Vlassov remained undefeated on the season, winning at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4 to help the Magicians (8-2) prevail. Tri-captain Miles Barry won 7-5, 6-2 and Marblehead swept doubles with wins by Griffin Butterfield/Jason Frost (6-2, 6-3) and Michael Fotre/Justin Faia (6-1, 6-3). Beverly’s (6-2) win came from Peter Coletti at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-4.

St. John’s Prep 5, Malden Catholic 0: Dan Cunningham (6-0, 6-0), Nico Limancher (6-0, 6-00 and Mateo Jacome (6-4, 6-1) earned wins for the Eagles (7-2) in singles play. Sean Nork/Tom Shea (6-0, 6-2) and Andrew Cardigan/David Cunningham (6-0, 6-0) also got wins in doubles action.
