Masconomet 9, Manchester Essex 0: Senior Will Twiss threw a no-hitter, striking out five and walking only one as the Chieftains remained perfect on the season at 12-0. Twiss carried a perfect game into the seventh and threw the first no-no in the Chieftain program since 2010.
“Will had everything working for him,” said Masco coach T.J. Baril. “He only has two walks on the season. He’s pounding the strike zone and he’s totally fine with them putting it in play with the defense we have. His approach is just to challenge guys.”
Senior Joe Klingensmith hit a grand slam in the fifth to break a 0-0 tie. Elias Varinos had an RBI single and Greg Dougherty also drove in a pair.
Saugus 7, Ipswich 5: Mike Savoie had three hits and Alex Morris pitched well for the Tigers (2-8) who had a chance to tie in the final inning but came up just short.
Swampscott 11, Lynn 4: The Big Blue improved to 9-2 behind a four goal performance by Devin Conroy and a hat trick by Alex Balleza. Freshman Jack Herlihy scored his first varsity goal while goalie Justin Nestor made seven saves.
Ipswich 14, Saugus 2: Jamie Iwanicki poured in five goals and Connor Killian recorded a hat trick for Ipswich (3-6) while keeper Jeff Statile made 13 saves. Vinny Martineau contributed a pair of markers while Eddie Flaherty played well defensively.
Marblehead 16, Gloucester 7: Dean Fader scored a game-high five goals for Marblehead (7-5), Harrison Young chipped in three goals and three assists and goalie Nathan Maselek made eight saves.
Danvers 12, Peabody 6: Matty Flynn, Trevor Chasse and Troy Fleming each had two goals and two assists as Danvers moved to 7-4. Stephen Ganley played well at the faceoff and contributed two goals, Jay Calcagno had two goals and one assist and Stephen Goutsoz also scored twice. Zach Billie scored two goals and an assist while Josh Fiore added a goal and an assist for Peabody (3-9).
