Marblehead's Phillips wins Rookie of the Year at Skidmore

“Tyler is extremely coachable and hard working. She never was one to look at her stats; she just wants the team to be successful.”

There were 11 players in the league chosen for First Team honors, but Phillips was the only freshman. She was one of three Thoroughbreds honored along with defender Caroline Bowne (Second Team) and midfielder Spencer Morgan (honorable mention).

“It was definitely a great year and I had a lot of fun playing,” said Phillips, who has a 3.45 GPA. “We have our entire team coming back next year, (including) the whole starting lineup.

“Halfway through the season we really started to click, and I know we’re going to have a good season (in 2015) because of all the experience we got. I plan to keep my stick warm this summer, and I’ll also do a lot of conditioning work. I did that last summer and focusing on strength and speed really helped me a lot.”
