BOYS TENNIS

Danvers 4, Malden Catholic 1: The Falcons moved to 10-2 by sweeping singles action with wins by No. 1 Nick Lisichenok (6-0, 6-0), No. 2 Toma Nabokin (6-1, 6-0) and No. 3 Jim Cunningham (6-2, 6-1). Danvers also won at first doubles with Jim McCarriston and Kevin Hodgkins going 6-4, 7-5.

Beverly 5, LC 0: Peter Coletti (6-0, 6-2), Leonard Schulz (6-0, 6-1) and Christian Ayer (6-0, 6-0) took first, second and third singles respectively for Beverly (8-2) while Conor Gill/Masaya Okumura (6-1, 6-1) topped first doubles and Chris Carbone/Martin Blohmer (6-1, 6-1) were victorious at second doubles.

Marblehead 5, Swampscott 0: Chris Wigglesworth (6-0, 6-1) and Miles Barry (6-2, 6-0) each rallied to win some big points and Dmitri Vlassov won 6-0, 6-0 as the Magicians swept singles against the rival Big Blue. Griffin Butterfield and Michael Forte won with authority at the net, 6-0, 6-0, and Jason Frost and Justin Faia prevailed 6-1, 6-3.

St. John’s Prep 5, Catholic Memorial 0: The Eagles improve to 9-3 overall after sweeping singles play with wins from Dan Cunningham (6-0, 6-1), Nico Limacher (6-0, 6-2) and David Cunningham (6-0, 6-0). Alex McNiff/Chase Davis (6-2, 6-0) and Sean Nork/Scott Reister (6-0, 6-0) got wins in doubles play.

GIRLS TENNIS

Swampscott 3, Marblehead 2: Anna Raptunovich (6-1, 6-2), Vivien Gere (6-1, 6-2) and Veronica Pyatigorskaya (6-0, 6-2) swept at singles action for the Big Blue (8-2).

The Magicians (8-3) won both doubles matches with victories from Amanda Gilberg/Hannah Cohen (6-2, 6-3) and Alice Yufa/Lily Frontero (6-0, 6-2).

Masconomet 5, Newburyport 0: Danielle Dunn (6-0, 6-2), Evelyn Harbert (6-1, 6-2) and Rececca Costa (6-2, 6-0) recorded wins for the Chieftains (7-3). Brooke Hunziker/Erin Johnson (6-1, 6-1) and Lucy Farnham/Olivia Mortelli (6-1, 6-2) also picked up wins.

Salem 5, Revere 0: Ari Gaffney (2-6,6-2,6-4), Madison Ballou (6-3 6-2) and Kayti LeFrancois (6-1 6-3) swept in singles action for the Witches. Ashley Capone/Jessi Tassinari (6-2 6-3) and Hannah Van de Stadt/Katherine Towey (6-1 6-1) also earned wins.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

St. Jospeh’s Maine 3, Endicott 2: The Gulls (30-14) had the tying run thrown out at home in the top of the ninth as they continue to prepare for the NCAA tournament with non-league bouts. Taylor English’s RBI single made it a one run game in that inning and when Josh Drew tried to score from second on Cam Farnham’s single, St. Joe’s got him at the dish to end it. Farnham went 4-for-5 and Davarn Nova threw four innings of scoreless relief for Endicott, which awaits Monday’s Division 3 NCAA seeds.
